Red Hill Residence redefines the regional Victorian home with a modern sensibility that honours its natural surroundings. Engaged for both external material selection and interior design, we crafted an inviting atmosphere that feels deeply rooted in its locale. Nestled within the landscape and offering panoramic views, the residence draws inspiration from its natural environment, elegantly integrating materials that reflect its local context. The combination of spotted gum timber, locally sourced Australian limestone, and exposed concrete surfaces forges a harmonious connection with the surroundings, embodying the spirit of a modern country home. Each material choice enriches the design narrative, fostering a meaningful dialogue between the residence and its picturesque environment. Entering the home, warm timber flows through an open, light-filled space, leading to a kitchen where spotted gum, limestone, terrazzo, concrete, and smoky grey mirror create a functional yet refined heart of the home, grounding culinary moments in natural beauty. Anchoring the living area, a striking limestone fireplace embedded with fossilized oyster shells pays homage to the region’s geological history, imbuing the interior with a timeless quality. The design extends into tranquil spaces, with bathrooms featuring dark limestone and custom concrete troughs for a spa-like atmosphere, while in the master suite, a dividing wall acts as both headboard and spatial anchor, establishing a serene, unified retreat. Every detail has been meticulously considered; even custom concrete handles echo the polished concrete floors, creating a cohesive tactile experience throughout the home. Red Hill Residence encapsulates the timeless elegance of regional design, reimagined with contemporary finesse for a lasting, sophisticated presence.
